IT Support Specialist (Onsite)

GEM IT Solutions is a major Technology vendor in Fiji working with leading companies and brands to transform business operations. We are looking for a self-motivated, detail, oriented and reliable person to join our team at Suva & Nadi, as an IT Support Specialist (Level 1/2) – Onsite 

Role Overview: The IT Support Specialist will be a key member of the customer support team within the IT Support and Infrastructure Team, providing essential Level 1 and Level 2 technical support across diverse customer environments. This role involves proactive and corrective maintenance of ICT solutions, including hardware and software, and ensuring optimal system performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide timely and effective Level 1 and Level 2 technical support for a wide range of IT equipment, including laptops, desktops, mobile devices, and printers.
  • Offer expert assistance to customers in resolving technical issues and challenges, proactively identifying and recommending solutions to meet their IT needs.
  • Perform corrective and preventative maintenance on various ICT products and solutions supported by GEM IT.
  • Willingness and capability to work flexibly in-house, remotely, or on-site at customer locations as required.
  • Report directly to the Line Manager and collaborate effectively with other GEM IT personnel, the Helpdesk Coordinator, Sales Associates, Project Managers, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure seamless support delivery.
  • Maintain a strong focus on customer satisfaction and deliver all services with a professional and client-oriented approach.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications:

An IT Degree or equivalent qualification is required.

  • Certifications: At least one Microsoft Industry Certification (e.g., Microsoft Certified Professional, MCSA, etc.) is mandatory.
    • Additionally, candidates must have obtained at least one relevant technical certification (e.g., MS Windows 7 or MS Office 2010) within the past five years OR completed at least five days of relevant IT training over the past five years.

 

  • Experience: Minimum four (4) years of experience in a similar post(s), specifically involving onsite user support related to software and hardware. This experience should also demonstrate proficiency in general IT support roles.
    • Proven experience working with Windows Operating Systems and Microsoft Office applications, including Office 365.
    • Should be a Tech-Savvy with latest gadgets (Laptop, Desktop, Mobile Devices, Printers, etc)
    • Provisioning computers, deploying hardware, workstation and desk setups. Able to work closely with internal Support Specialists to provide world-class end-user support.
    • Experience with Copier/Printer repairs will be an added advantage.

 

  • Technical Skills: Strong technical acumen and familiarity with a broad range of modern IT gadgets and solutions (Laptops, Desktops, Mobile Devices, Printers, network devices, etc.).
    • Solid knowledge of Windows Operating Systems and Office applications (including Office 365).
    • Proficiency in network troubleshooting is an advantage.

 

  • Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities and a quick-learner mindset.
    • Highly customer-oriented with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent written and spoken English is required.
    • Must possess a clean Driver’s License.
